Welcome to Light of the Stars! My name is Nicholas Royce, and I am an astrologer practicing the ancient tradition of India known as jyotish.
I have been interested in the stars from a young age. I was a member of the astronomy club in elementary school, and I would frequently read the short horoscopes in the newspaper.
In July of 2006, an event occurred that would change the course of my life. I was involved in a motorcycle accident that, by the accounts of first responders, I should not have survived.
It was through this event that I recognized that there was more to life than my physical existence. Though I'd believed in God for some time, I then KNEW for certain that there was a higher power that had a hand in our lives, and that there was a greater purpose for my existence on Earth.
For many years a couple questions circled in the back of my head. Why did I survive? And what is my greater purpose? In late September 2015 I unknowingly shifted into my Rahu dasha, activating my 9th house of spirituality and higher learning. This sent me on a deep dive into the world of the esoteric and occult, wildly changing my world view, and arriving at my soul.
I was introduced to vedic astrology through Sam Tripoli's TFH podcast when Jeff Harman, a second generation astrologer, appeared on the show. In that episode I learned the difference between the tropical and sidereal zodiacs and got a picture of the incredible breadth and depth of jyotish, the science of light.
Since that time I have immersed myself in the world of astrology - reading books, consuming podcasts and YouTube videos, and soaking up what I can from other jyotishis. I am currently a mentee under the tutelage of Jeremy Devens, founder of Quietmind Astrology.
